2025/26 Extracurricular Activities Programme

This year's offerings reflect our students' initiative and passion, with many actively creating opportunities to pursue their interests and share expertise with peers.

Grade 12 student Raj exemplifies this approach through his continued leadership of the Halcyon Economics Society.

Building on last year's success—which featured guest speakers including Professor Sandmann on Auction Theory and Professor Hawkes on the impact of the climate crisis on economic growth—Raj has ambitious plans for the coming year.

We envision a platform for leading universities to deliver talks and inspire economics students," Raj explains. "Last year we experienced significant growth, expanding our membership tenfold in the first month across students, parents and teachers. This year our focus shifts to interactive economics, with former students who achieved top marks providing guidance on excelling in the subject."

ECAs embody Halcyon's student-designed curriculum, enabling students to formalise their passions across diverse fields from fashion to mathematics.

Our success stories include the foundational Space Design Programme, which supported Halcyon alumni Leo in competing at the international space competition and visiting NASA, before continuing his studies in space engineering at university.

Raj, together with Grade 12 student Nathaniel, will lead this year's Space Design Programme with renewed ambition. "Halcyon has a strong legacy in the prestigious UK and international space competitions,"

Raj notes. "Multiple students have progressed to the international level. This marks our third consecutive year competing, and for the first time we have predominantly younger students—we've opened participation to Grades 9-12, with the majority from Grades 9-10.

"The space design competition challenges you in multiple ways. It's not solely about science—you might work in business, human resources, or leadership roles, all under significant time pressure."

Students must take ownership of their ECA participation. The registration form operates exclusively through student accounts and will not function from parent accounts. This deliberate choice empowers students to drive their involvement and ensures the programme benefits from their direct engagement.

Deadline: Sunday, 14th September

Students should log in and select preferred activities using the registration form. Complete descriptions and information are available in the accompanying information sheet.

As Mr Afonso, who structures the broader ECA programme, observes: "Your energy and enthusiasm truly drive this programme forward."
