2025 Music Show
Another year, another remarkable Halcyon music show. Thank you to everybody who attended - the turnout from the Halcyon community was exceptional. Warmest congratulations to all performers: students, Halcyon Alumni, teachers and parents! For many of our Grade 6-9 students, it was their first time performing, demonstrating impressive composure as they stepped onto the stage before their school community.
The evening showcased extraordinary talent, including solo performances by Grade 12 electric guitarist Ciaran; mesmerising pianists Grade 6 Olivia, Grade 6 Marie, Grade 7 Sophie, and Grade 8 Max; dynamic drumming by Melvil in Grade 8; and strong vocals by Grade 11 Nathaniel and Grade 9 Astrid and Zoey. The hit Exploration Band (Piggy Stardust) treated the audience to three pieces including the emotional guitar solos within The Beatles' 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'. To conclude the resonant evening, the staff and parents delivered an uplifting performance of the Backstreet Boys' classic 'I Want It That Way'.
Halcyon's music teacher, Tim Burtenshaw, who managed the performances and juggled the sound, lighting and production (with the help of Grade 9 student Dylan B) reflects on the event below.
Mr Burtenshaw says: "This year's music show was a really special night and for me it felt like it really represented a lot of what Halcyon is all about. The audience were super supportive of every act and MC Waltizer was a wonderful host, as he is every year.
"I'd like to thank all of the students that took part as well as the fantastic audience who helped bring the concert to life. The Halcyon school community is so supportive and I'm very grateful for every member of it!"
A special mention to Grade 9 student, Zoey L, who was Halcyon's resident gig photographer and managed to capture a gallery of wonderful images from the evening!
