The School Day

Maths at Halcyon

At Halcyon, our school day is designed to inspire and engage every student.

Students can jump into extra-curricular activities (ECAs) starting at 8am, setting a vibrant tone for the day ahead. Lessons begin at 9am, with students already energised and eager to learn.

Lunchtime offers a homemade, vegetarian meal and a chance to connect with friends, join clubs, or play sports in Hyde Park. Cognitive coaching, independent learning time and passion projects, amongst other things, take place in the afternoons, depending on grade. Our educational offering then extends beyond the classroom with a variety of ECAs after 4pm, enriching our students' experience.

From planning our Model United Nations to participating in football, Halcyon students are encouraged to pursue their passions and grow as creative, collaborative communicators. In our supportive community, every student can discover and realise their unique potential.

Lunch

We’re proud to offer a nutritious, healthy, and delicious lunch to all of our students on a daily basis as an included part of our school fees. Our students’ health and energy is our priority, and – from lunchtime to morning snack breaks to picnics in Hyde Park – we are pleased that our whole community shares the joy of eating together, and that we are able to cater for all dietary requirements.

Our in-house Catering Team has been recognised by Eco Schools for designing dynamic and tasty vegetarian lunch menus, with main options, sides (such as soups and a variety of salads), and desserts for students to pick from on a daily basis. Homemade smoothies are also provided as a drink option on a daily basis to accompany students’ morning and afternoon snack breaks.

Off-campus lunches

GRADE 6
Students have lunch in Hyde Park twice a week; we supervise students who will take part in a range of sporting activities whilst there.

GRADE 7-9
Students spend one lunch per week supervised in Hyde Park and one lunch off campus without supervision (with parental permission). Students are given a boundary of where they can go.

GRADE 10
Students have two unsupervised lunches off campus per week.

On all off campus days, students can pre-order their lunch of choice from our menu and we will prepare a delicious takeaway option for them to take with them.

GRADE 11-12
Students can choose to have lunch on or off campus on any day of their choosing.

As a parent of an alumni, the focus on good food was something that always impressed me about Halcyon. Properly made (not packaged) food and getting people eating together is key to a successful society and producing model citizens!

Academics

An innovative curriculum that encourages academic curiosity. Classrooms where challenging questions deepen understanding. Students welcomed for who they are.
